Why I love Journaling (and maybe you will too after reading this)

There are two things in life that I believe people seek the most. One is to feel like they belong and two is to express themselves. Whether through speaking, writing, or even through art, people have found their own ways to express themselves. Hopefully, you've found one too but if you haven't, journaling is one way to express your thoughts and emotions.

Why do I love journaling so much? I have several reasons why I love journaling but before I get started, I just want to say thank you for being here! It means more than words can say! :)
Alright, let's get started. Here are 5 (plus bonus) as to why I love journaling.
1. Brain Dump
Journaling empties my mind. I cannot tell you how many times I get so stressed out from hoarding thoughts in my head. When I write it all down into my journal, it feels like I just did some mental spring cleaning. Not only have I emptied my head, I have also documented it on paper. This is great since I tend to forget things when I am stressed and busy so having it written down gives me a sense of ease knowing I can revisit them later.
2. Venting Out
Have you ever just wanted to talk about something but no one is available? This is a very common scenario for me. When I think of something worth talking about, I journal it down. When I need to release any sort of "big feelings", I journal it down. It's either I have too much emotions that I cannot contain or it's something too personal I don't feel comfortable sharing to anyone. Journaling is like talking to someone about whatever it is without burdening another person with your problems and also get to keep your privacy (just make sure your journal is not easily accessible for others to read).
3. Speak to God
Much like venting out, I sometimes use my journal as a way to speak to God. Because I vent out to God too, I write it down on my journal addressing it to God. They are pretty much written prayers that I write on my journal. I love how integrated my prayers are into my journal as journal entry because it shows how involved God is in my journey. I can always look back at what I prayed for and reflect on what God has done in my life. This is a great way to reflect on your journey and be filled with gratitude.
4. Memory Keeping
As I wrote down my thoughts, feelings and moments, I was documenting parts of my life without realizing it. When I was in first grade, our teacher made us write about one thing about our day for the whole quarter. I wrote about what I ate, playing with my friends, what I saw that day, etc. At 30 years old, I'm reading it and it feel like I am reading another person's journal. We don't realize how much we change over time. The things we go through, the people we encounter, and the environment we are in all shape and mold us as we journey this life. Documenting moments or snippet of our lives allows us to see a glimpse of the progression and transformation we go through over time. And of course, walking down the memory lane and reminiscing the good times is one of the highlights of owning a journal.
5. Coping with Emotions
Writing on my journal help me cope with my emotions. When I write down my thoughts it allows me to connect with my feelings. As I write down my emotions it brings me to a state of self awareness and the more I am in-tune with my emotions, the more I understand myself.
(BONUS) Stationery Love
Who doesn't love stationery?! I don't know about you but I absolutely LOVE stationery. Pens, stickers, highlighters, stamps, washi tape... oh my goodness, OBSESSED is an understatement, LOL! Journaling allows me to be creative and play with all kinds of stationery!
I truly, TRULY hope you found inspiration in this blogpost to start journaling if you have not tried it yet.
